Growing the reputation of an established ALSP

Client situation

LegalEase Solutions LLC is a legal technology company and alternative legal service provider (ALSP) providing in-house legal departments and law firms with customized solutions for modernizing and streamlining their legal functions. Their clients include some of the automotive industry’s largest original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and other Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies.


Although LegalEase Solutions has served the industry for more than 17 years, its leaders felt the ALSP’s brand equity and name recognition were not where they needed to be. The team wanted to raise LegalEase’s profile as a go-to legal transformation partner by bringing more attention to its key partnerships, acquisitions and initiatives. 

At the outset, LegalEase’s leadership team wanted to focus on the following:

  • Promoting their technology partnerships — including joint thought leadership initiatives and other co-ventures —  over long-term engagements beyond initial partnership announcements

  • Leveraging LinkedIn to build more brand visibility

  • Securing speaking engagements at highly attended legal industry events

  • Solidifying ongoing media coverage and placements in appropriate trade publications

Naturally, the company felt the way forward was to commence a long-term PR campaign to extend its visibility beyond its core base of automotive clients, preferably in tandem with an outside public relations team well-versed in the sector. Reputation Ink’s legal public relations team was eager to step up to the challenge.

Our solution

Drawing from the agency’s successes with similar clients, our legal PR team created a plan to address LegalEase’s publicity objectives from all angles, playing into the strengths of the company’s leadership team.

Ongoing input calls to track developments

Our team held routine meetings with the company’s co-CEOs, customer success team and client-facing personnel. Some stakeholders we spoke to included the company’s lead automotive attorney, who assisted automotive general counsel in their defective car buyback negotiations. We also held input calls with the project leads for LegalEase’s AI initiatives and LawCompany, a documents and legal services marketplace for solo and small lawyers.

Strategic pitching

We initially targeted auto industry publications and legal tech trades to highlight the company’s Lemon Law initiatives and legal support services. Over time, we explored media opportunities covering contract lifecycle management (CLM), anti-money laundering and know-your-customer programs, cutting-edge legal technology and other topics related to LegalEase’s ever-evolving offerings.

Speaker submissions and awards

Our article and podcast pitching strategies had an ancillary goal: to help make LegalEase’s leaders competitive candidates for conference speaking engagements. We targeted events in the automotive, legal technology and legal operations sectors that corresponded with the company’s publicity objectives.

Prime coverage by industry influencers

We leveraged our pitching expertise to get the attention of legal tech authority Bob Ambrogi regarding several of LegalEase’s product lines and acquisitions. Ambrogi, in particular, wrote the following: 

  • An in-depth review piece on iPAT, a Lemon Law predictive analytics program that helps general counsel develop data-backed, competitive buyback offers for suspect lemon vehicles

  • An article on the company’s acquisition of CLM Gurus, a CLM specialist group with an established track record helping major universities, Fortune 500 companies and entertainment conglomerates streamline their CLM processes

In addition, Ambrogi invited LegalEase’s director of customer success to contribute an article to his legal tech news site, LawSites.

Our pitching strategies helped LegalEase nab articles in target industry publications such as MOTOR, Green Book and Industry Today. These opportunities introduced LegalEase’s thought leadership and expertise to readers in the automotive, financial and manufacturing sectors respectively.
