Content marketing and public relations firm Reputation Ink is offering aspiring content marketers the chance to attend one of the marketing world’s most popular conferences — HubSpot’s INBOUND 2015 — free of charge. All they have to do is show the agency why they would be a good candidate for a position with the company.

To enter the “Rep Ink Ultimate INBOUND Interview Contest,” candidates interested in a content marketing role with Reputation Ink must submit a blog post, e-book, infographic, video or any other form of content that explains why they deserve to win a ticket to HubSpot's INBOUND 2015 conference and a full-time position at Reputation Ink. The winner will meet with Reputation Ink’s team in Boston for an in-person interview with the team. Candidates must submit entries (which must adhere to certain rules) by Aug. 23. Reputation Ink will protect the confidentiality of currently employed candidates.

“There’s more than a free ticket at stake here,” said Michelle Calcote King, Reputation Ink’s principal and president. “We’re offering one full-time content marketing gig in sunny Jacksonville, Florida.”

Each year, thousands of marketers flock to Boston for HubSpot’s annual conference, which draws some of the industry’s top business and entertainment celebrities.

This year is no different, with Amy Schumer, the star of Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer,” providing the entertainment, with other speakers including author and actor Aziz Ansari, best-selling author Seth Godin, No. 1 New York Times best-selling author Daniel Pink, best-selling author and record-breaking TEDx speaker Brené Brown, Buzzfeed CEO Jonah Peretti, and Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso.

The event will be held Sept. 8 to 11 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center and is expected to attract 13,000 marketers, customers and partners of HubSpot, a sales and marketing software firm. That’s up from 2,800 attendees when the conference debuted in 2012.

Since its launch in 2011, Reputation Ink has grown quickly. Totalling six full-time employees and an extended network of freelancers, the firm’s clients include Jacksonville-based leaders such as Stellar, Nocatee, Rayonier, TerraPointe, Rogers Towers, and US Assure. In addition, the firm has expanded beyond Jacksonville to include a national litigation firm, Susman Godfrey, a Salt Lake City-based high-tech leader, Instructure, Houston-based intellectual property firm Patterson + Sheridan, full-service Nashville law firm Frost Brown Todd, government affairs firm Civic Point, market research firm FGI Research & Analytics and many others.

Calcote King says her greatest challenge has not been client growth — it’s been recruiting. “Hiring great marketers today is vastly different than it used to be,” Calcote King said. “The skillset is different, especially with the rise of content marketing. Writing skills are critically important, but at the same time they are becoming harder and harder to find.”

While the agency does more than writing, Calcote King says that writing is the fundamental skill that is often difficult to train. “We train our employees in digital marketing, digital strategy, content strategy and more. However, without that core ability to write — to think clearly in the written word — it’s virtually impossible to be a great content marketer.”
