Raychel Lean

An award-winning legal journalist and editor, Raychel is an experienced writer and interviewer with a knack for turning complex concepts into stories people care about. She specializes in developing insightful content and strategic thought leadership campaigns that establish her legal industry clients as authorities in their fields.

Raychel is the 2025 chair of the South Florida Legal Marketing Association. She has led communications programs and created content for law firms of all types and sizes operating in the U.S. and globally. No matter the client, she’s learned that successful strategies hinge on two crucial questions: Who are you talking to, and why should they listen?

Allergic to jargon and buzzwords, Raychel believes the most effective marketing is clear, concise and authentic. As a non-lawyer in the legal world, she’s found her greatest strength is her layperson’s brain, which ensures she never loses sight of the need to untangle and simplify complex ideas.

In Raychel’s former life as a journalist, she was managing editor of American Lawyer Media’s  Florida publication, the Daily Business Review, which serves an audience of attorneys, judges and other legal professionals. Thousands of interviews, newspaper editions and courtroom sagas later, she has a deep understanding of what makes a story rise above the noise. Spoiler alert: even lawyers don’t want to read legalese.

As a journalist, Raychel received awards from the Society of Professional Journalists for her coverage of South Florida’s affordable housing crisis and the impacts of climate change on the legal profession and local economy. Her investigations into South Florida’s bankruptcy court and changes to Title IX campus policies were recognized by the Jesse H. Neal Awards, which honors excellence in business-to-business journalism.

More about Raychel

Great Dane mom and one of Miami's few Brits

Raychel’s career began with a journey from a sleepy coastal village in Northwest England to the humid metropolis of Miami, Florida. Inspired by a late night spent browsing Google Maps and a strong dislike for sideways rain, 18-year-old Raychel decided to attend a university 4,000 miles away. It was there that she discovered her talent for writing, thanks to a teacher who pushed her out of her comfort zone. Now, there’s never a dull day with Venus the Great Dane, who loves being chased around the apartment and stalking other dogs from the balcony. Raychel still swears by Google Maps and regularly takes off on last-minute weekend adventures.
