Jess van Schalkwyk is the kind of designer who notices the things most people scroll right past. She has spent the better part of a decade turning complex information into visuals that are clean, clever and genuinely fun to look at. She brings a curious, open-minded approach to her work and likes finding unexpected ways to bring an idea to life. Jess is based in South Africa and works with clients and teams across markets.

From Employer Branding to Global Creative Teams

Jess got her start in graphic design and brand redesign before moving to employer branding, helping companies use visual storytelling to attract talent. She later helped redesign the brand of a major national bank, transitioning its legacy branding into a modern visual identity. At Reputation Ink, she brings that same versatility to event collateral, promotional items, brand graphics, brochures, newsletters — and anything else a project calls for.

Creativity On and Off the Clock

Jess’s design instincts don’t stop at client work. She’s also an illustrator, with a personal style she describes as “alternative goth.” Whether she’s building a corporate deck or sketching for herself, her approach stays the same: have fun with it and don’t be afraid to break form.
